The Government of Saskatchewan has made significant changes to the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) due to federal cutbacks.

Key Updates:

Federal Cutbacks:

  • The Government of Canada reduced SINP nominations by 50%, leaving Saskatchewan with only 3,625 nominations (lowest since 2009).
  • 75% of nominees must already be in Canada on a temporary visa.

New SINP Changes (Effective Immediately):

  1. Priority for Key Sectors:
    • Overseas candidates will only be considered for jobs in health care, agriculture, and skilled trades.
    • All other occupations must hire from within Canada.
  2. Industry-Specific Caps:
    • Accommodation, food services, retail trade, and trucking can only receive 25% of total nominations.
  3. Ineligible Occupations:
    • Spas, salons, and pet care services (excluding veterinarians) can no longer apply through SINP.
  4. Permanent Program Closures:
    • Entrepreneur, International Graduate Entrepreneur, and Farm Owner/Operator categories are permanently closed.
  5. Application Returns:
    • Saskatchewan Express Entry & Occupations In-Demand applications without a job offer will be returned.
    • Affected applicants can request a refund of their application fee.
